The Calabar Carnival and Festival is an event that many people look forward to. It was initiated over a decade ago by Ex-Governor Donald Duke of Cross River State. This event has enjoyed participation from across the globe and is rated as one of the biggest carnivals in Africa.
With all the hype that goes with the carnival, Filmmaker, Oghenefego Ofili was concerned about the economic effect (gains or losses) it might have on small business owners and the general populace. How do the people of Calabar prepare for the Christmas Carnival? Do they look forward to the events of the carnival? Does it boost product sales?
These and other questions are answered in this special documentary by Oghenefego Ofili and we are excited to announce that this film made the nominee list for best documentary in this year’s Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
The nominees were officially announced on Saturday, 30 June by Ghanaian actress and TV presenter, Joselyn Dumas, and Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi via a syndicated broadcast on all Africa Magic channels.
